Joey Jay is the first Phoenix-based drag queen to compete on RuPauls Drag Race, appearing on Season 13 in 2021. Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Joey moved to Phoenix after plans to open a ballroom dancing studio fell through due to injury. She was eliminated in Episode 5 after a lip-sync to Fancy by Iggy Azalea against LaLa Ri, finishing 12th. In 2024, Joey lobbied for LGBTQ+ rights at the United States Capitol alongside Jiggly Caliente and Brigitte Bandit. She was crowned Miss Gay Phoenix America 2025. Known for her athletic, boy-drag aesthetic and infectious energy, Joey Jay is a beloved fixture of the Phoenix drag scene.
